Updated: 2014-01-16

With Spring Festival approaching, Hefei Xinqiao International Airport is expecting its passenger volume to peak. To date, the airport is already providing 529 extra flight routes, most of which are to southern cities such as Guangzhou, Amoy, Shenzhen and Haikou.

Some expect the airport will see record-breaking numbers this year, probably on January 28 or 29 and February 4 or 5, with passenger traffic exceeding 20,000.

Passengers to Guangzhou can enjoy low prices. From January 20 to 22, flight CZ8344 (Hefei-Guangzhou) will cost only 150 yuan ($24.76) (airport construction fee and fuel cost excluded). Flight CZ8344 takes off at 11:00pm and arrives at 1:55am the next day. Flight CZ1318 takes off at 5:00pm and arrives at 6:55pm. It will cost at least 190 yuan ($31.37) (airport construction fee and fuel cost excluded).

Huangshan Airport is also providing extra flights for Spring Festival. It is expected to hit 540 flights, 6 percent higher than average. The passenger traffic in Huangshan Airport is likely to reach 44,000, 4 percent higher than average. Jiuhua Mountain Airport is expected to provide 240 flights for 15,000 passengers during Spring Festival.
