Located in Northwest Anhui, Bozhou has jurisdiction over three counties (Woyang, Mengcheng and Lixin) and one district (Qiaocheng). It has an area of some 8,374 square km and a population of 5.76 million. Bozhou is a national historical and cultural city.
 

Being a cradle of Chinese traditional medicine, it ranks first among the top four medicine capitals in China. It is the hometown of Hua Tuo, the first famous Chinese surgeon who lived during the Eastern Han Dynasty and Three Kingdoms Period. It has the largest specialized market and trade center of Chinese traditional medicinal materials in the country.

Bozhou is known as the “land of wine”, and Gujinggong Wine has been sold well both at home and abroad. It is an important production base of commodity grain, high quality cotton and tobacco, high grade cocoon and paulownia and raw goat skin; and it also enjoys good reputations as the Golden Triangle of Cattle and the Home of Taigan (a dried vegetable).

Nowadays, Bozhou has five key historical monuments under state protection, and some 150 under province protection. More than 20 tourist attractions featuring ancient culture are open to the public, involving ancient business and trade, Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi (founders of Taoism), medical wine and the Wei Kingdom (220—265) of the Three Kingdoms Period. It is an ideal place for people to explore the past and keep in good health.
