Square Cake (Fang Gao)

Wuhu specialties

It is a traditional and renowned snake. In 1943, Wang Yuqing, a cook in “Liufangzhai Restaurant” of Chong’an Temple introduced Huzhou Square Cake to Wuhu, made some change and turned it into a famous Wuhu snake.

First place the cake flour in a square wooden template and add the stuffing made of fresh meat, bean paste and vegetable lard into the concave. Then cover them with a layer of cake flour and scrape the extra flour. Divide them into blocks with a knife and steam it using quick fire. The cake is snow white and is soft with tender stuffings.

 

Shrimp Seed Noodle (Xia Zai Mian)Wuhu specialties

It is cooked with hand-made noodles, with shrimps from the Yangtze River and various flavorings.

The noodles are delicious and nutritious. The restaurant Gengfuxing has a time-honored history and has received many distinguished guests from home and abroad. Those who have ever eaten the shrimp seed noodle all have highly praised the noodles for its unique taste.

 

Sam Sun Wonton

Wuhu specialties

Sam Sun wonton first originated from the folks of Wuhu which later became a traditional famous snack. The stuffing is made of fresh meat, dried and shelled shrimps and mustard tuber, which is called "Sam Sun" (three delicacies). The wonton is added with bean curds, eggs and bone meat soup. It is popular among the locals for its transparent skin, rich stuffing and fresh soup.
