New water park projects in Anhui
Updated: 2014-05-13

With the summer approaching, many scenic areas in Anhui province are developing water park projects. Anhui residents will have more choices for water experiences by this summer vacation.

A top-level water park with the largest size and most facilities in Asia is being built in the Bali River scenic area. This park, which can accommodate 50 thousand tourists at the same time, is expected to open this coming July. Another water world in Yingshang county consists of three parts: outdoors, indoors, and a green ecological corridor.

Fangte, Wuhu also has a water-themed park project which is expected to open in June. Hefei Heritage Park is planning to invest 300 million yuan ($48.13 million) into a water project, which has a number of sub-projects themed along traditional Chinese cultures. This year, there will be around ten water parks in Anhui province.

Water parks have long shown huge summer appeal to tourists. However the large number of new water parks will pose a threat to the existing ones, forcing them to think of measures to keep their customers. The Emirates Bay Water Park, for example, will have three new facilities once it opens in June, with the ticket price unchanged. However, the park still estimates a 30 percent decrease in tourist numbers this year. In addition to its facilities, the park also plans to improve its service quality.
