During the May Day holiday, the Jiuhua Mountain scenic area received 150.6 thousand tourists, 34.46 percent higher than usual, and took in 151.14 million yuan ($24.17 million), 36.05 percent higher than the previous year.

The area specially introduced featured activities, such as blessing trips and self-cultivation trips. The most popular ones featured folk culture, Buddhist culture, photography trips and mountain hiking. During the holiday, the Dayuan Cultural Garden held a "Buddhist tea" tasting event, provided Huangmei opera performances and introduced different discount policies.

In order to tackle the heavy pressure of tourist flow, five working groups were temporarily set up to cooperate with different departments. The area was therefore kept in good order.
