Documentary "Big Huangshan Mountain" calls for essays and photos
Updated: 2014-04-15

Have you ever had the chance to watch CCTV-9's documentary "Big Huangshan Mountain"? Do you have any items which reflect the beauty of the place? Recently, Huangshan Tourism Committee and Huangshan Literary Federation in Anhui province, jointly launched a campaign for a "Big Huangshan Mountain" essay and photo competition.

This event is open to anyone on the internet, tourists, photographers, and the general public. It kicked off on April 1 and the deadline for submissions is June 30. Entries can be essays related to the "Big Huangshan Mountain" documentary or photos which capture the beautiful natural landscape or reflect the cultural customs of the area. Essays can be travel-related (up to 1500 words), poems (less than 30 lines), fiction (no more than 3,000 words) or other subjects. Photo entries can be in color or black and white. Both single photos and group photos (no more than 6 per theme) are accepted.

Participants can send their essays or photos by eMail to hsssycyb@163.com, highlighting "Big Huangshan Mountain" essay and photo competition in the subject line. Apart from submitting entries directly, the organizing committee is encouraging authors to upload their work onto blogs, Weibo, or WeChat to gain maximum publicity.

What's more, authors can publish their work in print – for example in newspapers and magazines. Additionally, the judges will prioritize those who have made positive publicity with their entries. As a kindly reminder, participants should also submit a record such as a Web page screenshot to confirm it's the original work of the author.

After the completion date, the organizers will invite relevant experts to act as a jury to review all the entries. First, second and third places in both the essay and photo categories will be announced later and the winners will receive awards with a total value of 100,000 yuan($1,600). The top prize winner will get 5,000 yuan in cash.

Note: From April 4, cctv9 (CCTV documentary channel) will re-air the "Big Huangshan Mountain" documentary at 8 pm, with an episode every day. All are welcome to watch.
