Starting in April last year, the reconstruction project of the Former Residence of Liu Mingchuan is expected to be wrapped up this July.

It is understood that the construction of peripheral trenches and fences have been completed and the refurbishment of the main building will end soon.

spokesman for the Former Residence of Liu Mingchuan said that the reconstruction work was devoted to retaining as much of the original site as possible, with the aim of preserving its ancient flavor.

Around 70 percent of the current rehabilitation work has been completed, and all efforts were being made to fully complete the work by July.

Liu Mingchuan (1836–1896), who was born in the city of Hefei, Anhui province, was the first Taiwan Governor of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
