Anhui to open first general airport
Updated: 2014-01-21

Anhui will open its first general airport for civil use at Ningguo city this year to meet the growing demand of local passengers and economic development.

The airport, named Qinglongwan and under construction, costs at least 200 million yuan ($33 million) in investment to build a 400-meter-long and 25.5-meter-wide runway, a terminal of 366,666 square meters and two aprons, said a source from the local airport authorities.

“It will serve as an air minibus platform for small passenger aircraft and helicopters,” said the source.

It is one of the civil airport projects Anhui plans to launch this year, according to a report on its transportation work for 2014.

Preparations will be made to survey the airport projects in the province’s Bengbu, Bozhou, Wuxuan and Lujiang, the report said.

The Qinglongwan airport, on completion, is able to serve the landing and take-off of M171 helicopters and similar models, forming a general aviation network with cities such as Hefei, capital city of Anhui province, and Nanjing, capital city of Jiangsu province.
