Discount prices push travel during Mid-Autumn Festival
Updated: 2013-09-05

Sandwiched between summer vacation and the National Day holiday, Mid-Autumn Festival does not seem like a very popular choice for tourists. Since there are few tour routes to choose from, travel agencies are offering various discounts for travelers in September.

Anhui Shenzhou Travel Agency is introducing a two-day route to Haining city, Zhejiang province, and the Qiantang River at a cost of 268 yuan ($43.79) to 369 yuan ($60.29) per person. Many claim Mid-Autumn Festival is the best time to visit the Qiantang River. Influenced by the new Tourism Law, the China Youth Travel Service has not yet introduced any new routes for Mid-Autumn Festival. But they say that tourists prefer shorter trips such as to Jiuhua Mountain and Huangshan Mountain in Anhui province, or to Suzhou or Hangzhou city outside the province.

Different from the past, many people are choosing cross-border trips in September because the cost is expected to rise dramatically at the beginning of October. Currently, the most popular destinations include Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
