Bagong Mountain

Bagong Mountain

Bagong Mountain

Situated in Bagongshan District of Huainan City, it is an integrated tourist destination blending sightseeing, leisure, culture, and the study of geology and landforms. It is listed as a national forest park, a national geological park and a national AAAA scenic area.

The core part of the scenic area covers an area of 18.85 square km, with over 40 rolling hills covered by flourishing pine forests. The Huaihe River flows past the north and winds eastwards. The well-known Feishui Battle in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420) took place here. It left behind some famous classical idioms, such as "every bush and tree looks like an enemy" and " Fear ambush at every tree and tuft of grass". The major tourist attractions include the Palace of Prince Huainan of the Western Han Dynasty and the Platform for the King to ascend to Heaven, Qinglanggan Park, White Pagoda Temple and Wangqing Valley. As the most important tourist attraction in Bagong Mountain, the Palace of Prince Huainan covers an area of 5.5 square km. It was set up for Liu An (179-122 BC), Prince Huainan of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24), who was also a famous thinker, literati and the inventor of tofu.
